Whenever anyone mentions oysters I always seem to think of
Lewis Carroll's character, the
Walrus, from his famous story of Alice in Wonderland. How he coaxed them out of the sea singing a tune and then the Carpenter and himself ate the poor little things with gusto. Well I wasn't feeling sorry for the little things the other night, when my brother walked in the door with three dozen oysters which were picked, opened and put on ice that morning, all ready for us to
indulge. He went up to the
Knysna Oyster Festival, and as a tradition, just had to bring some home for us. Any they were delicious!!

If you're ever visiting
Knysna of just passing through, you have to do yourself a favour and visit the
Knysna Oyster Company, especially if you enjoy oysters. You can pick fresh water or cultivated oysters in various sizes and prices. Even if you don't enjoy them, get yourself a bottle of champers and enjoy the beautiful scenery and atmosphere!
